Mimosa Hostilis

General Information:

The Mimosa tree is mainly found in Brazil. The bark of the tree has been consumed for centuries. It plays an important role in a variety of shamanistic traditions throughout the entire region of South-America. The bark of the Mimosa tree contains a remarkable concentration of N,N-DMT. This is why Jurema is often added to Ayahuasca – or even used as a replacement for Psychotria viridis. The substance N,N-DMT is normally not orally active, which is why it is mostly used in combination with a MAO-inhibitor (like B. Caapi and P. Harmala). It has been suggested that the Mimosa Hostilis - on its own- can also bring about psychoactive effects. In this case, it is prepared into a cold water infusion. The effects of N,N-DMT, when smoked, can be very intense and overwhelming. It gives a very visual but very short trip. In order to smoke N,N-DMT an extraction is needed from, for example, Mimosa. This process is illegal, as well as the pure N,N-DMT. The combination of Mimosa (or another DMT containing plant) with an MAO-inhibitor is called Ayahuasca or Anahuasca. Such brews have very intense psychological, visual, auditory and psychedelic effects. Physically these brews can cause nausea, headache and diarrhea. The effects of Mimosa itself are described as similar to those of Ayahuasca, but different in that has a shorter duration and that it is less intense for the body, physically.

10 Grams of dried and pulverized tree bark.

Mimosa Hostilis (Jurema Preta)

When using Mimosa Hostilis – with or without an MAO-inhibitor - it is important to take the following precautionary measures: 1. Do research on which dose and combination you want to use, and in which way you want to consume the substance. The differences in effect can vary enormously, depending on the dosage and combinations with other plants. It is therefore very important to make an informed decision. We recommend the website Erowid for this purpose. See the link below. Keep into account that every person responds differently to these substances. 10 grams of Mimosa should be enough for a medium dose for one person. 2. The use of MAO-inhibitors can be risky. Read our MAO-inhibitor instructions and follow them carefully. This will ensure a safe and responsible use. 3. Only use Mimosa when you feel well, physically and mentally. 4. Do not use Mimosa if you are suffering from mental problems, if you use medication or if someone in your family has a history with psychosis or schizophrenia. Discuss with your physician or psychiatrist whether you can use Mimosa.
